Current Projects
The Office of Sustainability is currently working on the following projects.
- Visible NAU
Ever wonder how your energy use compares to your friends, neighbors, and co-workers? The Visible NAU campaign allows you to do just that. From February through April, NAU faculty and staff will be asked to sign up with the website "Visible NAU", allow access to your home energy data through APS, and track your energy usage as a way to become more conservation-oriented in your life. Visit the site now at http://nau.visibleenergy.com/
- NAU Yellow Bike Program
This free community bike program has been revamped to include a checkout system for all faculty, staff, and students. The bike is still be free but now comes with a lock to ensure that it is available to you for the entire time you have it checked out. Click HERE for details
- LEED Building Education

Tours of the buildings are available by calling the Office of Sustainability.
- Waste and Recycling

- Research in Campus Sustainability
Each semester, the Office of Sustainability will develop research internship opportunities to allow students to be actively involved in campus sustainability efforts.
- Renewable Energy at NAU
In order to reach the university's goal of carbon neutrality by the year 2020, the Office of Sustainability will need to look into feasible renewable energy options for the campus. Some considerations include the use of biomass, solar thermal panels, and solar photovoltaic arrays.
