Current Projects

The Office of Sustainability is currently working on the following projects.

  • NAU's Climate Action Plan for Carbon Neutrality by 2020: President Haeger was a charter signatory to the American Colleges and University Presidents (ACUP) Carbon Commitment in 2007. Now, President Haeger aims to make NAU a net carbon neutral campus by the year 2020. Complete PDF version of NAU's Climate Action Plan can be downloaded HERE.

  • NAU Yellow Bike Program: This free community bike program has been revamped to include a checkout system for all faculty, staff, and students. The bike is still be free but now comes with a lock  to ensure that it is available to you for the entire time you have it checked out. Click HERE for details

  • NAU STARS Program: NAU has registered for the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education's (AASHE) new STARS Program. The Sustainability Tracking and Assesment Reporting System (STARS) allows NAU to track and report all of its various sustainability initiatives in order to recieve a STARS rating. The University's submission is due January 2011 at which point NAU and other participating institutions will be rated either Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum.   • Dining Services' Green Initiatives: NAU The Dining Services and Campus Catering Department has taken major steps to "green" NAU's dining facilities and policies. From biodiesle to trayless dining, there are plenty of exciting initiatives to check out. Click HERE for more!
