Organization’s Mission and/or description:

We advocate the teaching of strings, build networks with others in our profession, volunteer in the community, and help NAU msuic students succeed in school. The American String Teachers Association promotes excellence in string and orchestra tachign and laying. ASTA pursues its mission through
-An open sharing of ideas
-Benefits, services and activites responsive to the needs of all members
-Development of strong state leadership and chapters
-Enhance of the image and visibility of strin teaching and study;
-Advocacy for string education and
-An inclusive community of string teachers and players
  

Community service/philanthropy projects/events performed on a regular basis: Adopt-an-Avenue and class observations and volunteering in Flagstaff schools

Why join? ASTA is a very beneficial group. We focus on getting studetns prepared for their teachign career and build freindships with other musicians. We are not very time consuming but we focus on advocating strings through service.
