Mission:  Our mission is to increase interest in the arts and to have fun.

Community service:  We facilitate study groups for the 100 level ARH courses.

Events: Each fall the Art History Society puts on a fundraiser.  We celebrate El Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead.  We choose an artist to dedicate an altar too.  While this is a fundraiser for us and we sell candles and sugar skulls, we also take this opportunity to honor artists who have passed and we learn about the artist to whom the altar is dedicated.  We also host receptions for guest lecturers.  This gives us the opportunity to speak with professionals within the Art History field and learn about the research process.  Each semester we take a trip to a museum, either in Phoenix or here in Flagstaff.  We attempt to gain a behind the scenes look at museum work and we take the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom.  The Art History Society also joins the Flagstaff community in First Friday Art Walks every month, with occasional trips to Sedona’s First Friday Art Walk as well.

Why join?  We are a great group of people.  This Society knows how to have fun with learning about art.  We provide our members with a look at career opportunities and the latest art news around campus.  Our Society provides a place for like-minded individuals to come together and enjoy their passion for art.

What makes a good member? Good Society members are enthusiastic and have an interest in art and art history.  They pay dues and attending meetings.  Good members take an active role in the Society and are genuinely interested in its future.

Interested in joining? If you are interested, please come to one of our meetings, we always welcome new members.  You can also contact us through both of our websites with any comments, questions, or concerns.
