Organization Awards

Rodney Mather Award (application)

The Rodney Mather Award is named for Rodney A. Mather, an active and involved student who died in an accident at Grand Falls in 1977. In his memory, his parents established an award and memorial fund which honors the most outstanding civic or university service project performed by a NAU student club or organization. Clubs and organizations apply for this award in the Spring and the committee looks for full member participation and sponsorship of community service that involves and impacts NAU and the surrounding community.  Class-related projects and projects by academic organizations that relate to their academic area are not eligible for the Rodney Mather Award and should apply for the Service Learning Award below.  Applications are available during spring semester through the Office of Student Life, University Union, Room 105.  Click on the name above for the application.

The Robert and Joy Crozier Leadership Award (application)

The Robert and Joy Crozier Leadership Award was established during the 2006-2007 academic year in an effort to recognize and promote excellent leadership activities and/or programs sponsored by registered student organizations at Northern Arizona University. The Robert and Joy Crozier Leadership Award seeks applications from registered student organizations on an annual basis during each spring semester.  This leadership award seeks to recognize the best example of leadership activity produced by a student organization during the current academic year.  Student organizations applying for this leadership award should include any program or activity designed to enhance student leadership or that demonstrates outstanding leadership.  This might include an actual program developed or coordinated by the student organization or an activity/accomplishment that demonstrates leadership excellence on behalf of the organization.

The Northern Arizona University Service Learning Award (application)

The NAU Service Learning Award was instituted and funded by the Office of Student Life during NAU's 1999 Centennial Celebration to honor outstanding service initiatives or programs that extend students' academic preparation through meaningful community service activities.  Through the NAU Service Learning Award the University recognizes the important and unique nexus between academic and service learning opportunities by encouraging and recognizing student involvement as citizens of the larger community. Academic student organizations and individual classes have implemented a number of service oriented projects that carry with them an added learning component for the students who are involved with the project.  The NAU Service Learning Award seeks to recognize these meaningful and important projects.  Applications are available during spring semester through the Office of Student Life, University Union, Room 105.  Click on the name above for the application.
