New Member Nominations

Information on nominating yourself or a fellow Service Professional for SPAC membership can be found at the bottom of this page.

Each Spring, the Service Professional Advisory Council solicits nominations from across the campus to fill the available positions on the Council. Deans, Directors, Department Chairpersons, and Service Professionals are asked to assist in identifying and nominating qualified service professionals to be part of the SPAC. Service Professionals may also nominate themselves for membership on the Council. Nominees should be interested in working for their fellow service professionals on a wide range of issues. Time commitments include meeting as a council once per month and participation on one or two other task forces, committees, or university work groups as a representative of the SPAC. It is very important that the Council be composed of 15 members who are representative of service professional throughout the university, thus, nominations are solicited from a variety of areas.

The Service Professional Advisory Council was created to recognize the service professional staff as an integral part of the university community and to advise the university administration on policy matters of interest to service professional staff. To accomplish this charge, members of the SPAC serve a key role in increasing communication between service professionals and the administration to ensure mutual understanding and establish a dialogue on issues that are important to service professionals. This is accomplished through e-mail, voice mail, discussions, open forums, and written correspondence. In addition, members of the SPAC are regularly asked to provide input on university issues by participating on a number of university committees and initiatives. The SPAC is active in discussions about professional development, employee recognition, and appointment issues, and a member attends the meetings of the University Advisory Committee. If you have specific questions about the Service Professional Advisory Committee or the nomination process, please feel free to contact me.
