Dear Prospective BSW Student:

Thank you for your interest in our BSW Program.  The mission of the NAU Social Work Program is to offer the bachelor of social work degree for generalist social work practice reflecting the diverse populations and challenges of the region through educational partnerships with community colleges.  The department’s teaching, research, and service activities address needs of individuals, families, and communities in northern Arizona.  We welcome you to this program and look forward to reading your completed application.

  • Minimum cumulative 2.25 GPA at time of admission and throughout the program
  • Have completed 24 credit hours by the end of semester of application
  • Completion of SW 220 with a grade of B or better by end of semester of application.

Please send completed materials:

  • Letters of Reference (2) in the sealed (with signatures) envelopes
  • Statement of Educational and Career Goals (typed/ 3-5 pages/ double spaced)
  • College/University transcripts (one (1) copy from each institution)

            Or dropped of at:

Department of Sociology & Social Work

Social and Behavioral Sciences Building (#65)

            Room 330

These materials need to be in the office by SEPTEMBER 30 or FEBRUARY 15 of the academic year you wish to begin the program.  Failure to return a complete packet by the due date will automatically eliminate you from consideration for admissions at the time.  What this means, in effect, is that you will only be able to take social work courses approved for the minor in social work.

You will be notified in writing of the decision of the Social Work Program Admissions Committee no later than the pre-registration period of the semester you applied.  We look forward to receiving your application.  Be assured it will be given our utmost consideration.

Sincerely,

Rebecca Garrison, PhD

Social Work Program Coordinator
