Welcome to the Department of Applied Indigenous Studies at Northern Arizona University!

 

NAU's Applied Indigenous Studies (AIS) major combines contemporary tribal management skills with respect for indigenous culture, knowledge, values and beliefs.

Students will combine classroom education and traditional tribal knowledge to work effectively within indigenous communities.

The historical development of tribal self-determination and its impact on indigenous peoples provides the foundation for the AIS major.

 

The AIS symbol was designed by Ashley Davenport, Junior, Sinagua High School, Flagstaff AZ.
