Residence Hall Association Positions

 

President of RHA

    The President of RHA is tasked with the of planning and executing each general council and executive board meeting. He/She will invite guest speaker to speak at meetings and discuss in-campus issues with the general council. He/She is also the ex-officio of the Leadership and Judicial committee. He/She advocates for the resident on the NAU campus and connects the residents to the Flagstaff campus. He/She is tasked with the of planning the Hall council training, the RHA retreat for general council members, and the development of leadership skills for the entire council.  

 

National Communications Coordinator

     The National Communications Coordinator is tasked with creating a delegation to learn leadership skills and to represent Northern Arizona University at leadership conferences across the country. Our regional conference IACURH (Intermountain Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls) is a conference that is held in the fall at a selection school within the region.  This conference is aimed towards leadership development workshops, programing and events ideas, and much more. Through this conference, delegates are able to bring back ideas to our NAU campus. The NCC and the President also will attend a conference call No Frills, this is a regional business conference.  At No-Frills, schools will discuss difference legislation issues that pertain to the region, (re)elect regional directorship, along with regional bid reviewing.  In the Spring, the NCC will take a delegation to the biggest student run conference in the WORLD!! This conference is called the NACURH (Nationa Association of College and University Residence Halls) conference.  NACURH is the largest student ran organization with is comprised of schools from (but not limiting to) the U.S.A., Canada, Australia, and more.  All schools from each state will get together to represent there home state, share event ideas, and leadership building at a much larger scale. The National Communications Coordinator iss also the ex-officio of the Internal and National Affairs Committee.

 

Public Relations Director

     The Public Relations Director is tasked with RHA marketing and general council development.  The Public Relations Director is responsible for the up keeping of RHA's marketing tools (website, brochures, etc), maintaining good relationships with the general community, non-student members of the campus.  The Public Relations Director also implements events for the general council such as monthly events, workshops, banquets, assisting in the general council retreat and much more.  Administratively, the Public Relations Director is tasked with taking minutes during meetings, and keeping an accurate record of RHA representatives attendence. The Public Relations Director is also the ex-officio of the Public Relations Commitee.

 

Special Events Director

     The Special Events Director is tasked with community building for the students the NAU campus.  A event that the Student Affairs Directors takes a big part of is Traditions Day, which takes place during homecoming.  During Traditions Day, RHA will put on events such as a Bonfire, and other events with He/She would like to implement. He/She is also in charge of creating a small panel of judges to judge and vote on Hall for Fall, Hall for Spring and Hall for Year competitions. He/She will also have a part in planning the Spring Event along side with Gabaldon’s Hall Council. The Student Affairs Director is also the ex-officio of the Student Affairs Committee.

Finance Director 

     The Finance Director is tasked with all finance responsible that RHA may need.  He/She is tasked with maintaining and organizing the RHA product line (care packages, linen, etc) throughout the year. He/She will also create, update, and present a budget that which is best suited for RHA at that time.  He/She will review all expenditures in RHA (including but not limited to, executive members, hall allocations, etc). The Finance Director is also the ex-officio of the Finance Director Committee.

 

Compensations and Requirements

    Every executive board member must be a full time student maintaining a GPA of 2.50(prior to elections), and must had served on general council for at least one (1) semester (president must serve two (2) consecutive semesters immediately before being elected).  Each executive board member will hold 15 mandatory office hours per week, as well as 5 outside office hours (attending meetings etc..) while The president will have a mandatory 20 office hours per week. All executive board member is compensated with pro-rated double occupancy traditional style housing as well as, 750 dinning dollars per semester (President will have 1,000 dinning dollars per semester).
