Summer Check-in & Checkout Information
Housing is not available before the designated check-in date and time. Reservations are held until 4:30 p.m. on the first day of classes of the first session contracted. You will need your NAU ID card upon check-in. If you plan to check-in after the initial check-in dates, please contact our office so that we may hold your room.

Applying for summer housing & Assignment Process
Registration Requirements
To be eligible for summer housing, you must be registered for either summer session courses, a workshop, or pre-registered for the fall semester.
Current Housing Residents - Subject to availability
Specific areas in McKay Village, and Allen may be designated for summer usage. You may need to move to one of these areas for the summer session if your spring assignment is not in this area.
If you are a spring resident and want to live here for the summer, you must submit a summer housing contract. Your current contract does not include summer housing.
Canceling a Summer or Workshop Contract
If you no longer need on campus housing you may cancel online at nau.edu/reslife prior to the published opening date for the session or workshop you are attending.
Storage-only available to Summer Session Housing Residents
Limited storage is available to NAU students who currently live on campus and will continue to live on campus while attending the first 5-week summer session. Students must come to the Office of Residence Life, North Hall, building 5 to complete a storage agreement and pay applicable fees. Storage space will vary.
Is Fall August Downtime housing offered?
Downtime housing is allowed for students that reside in their fall assignment during the second 5 week summer session. Housing is not available between the end of the second 5 week summer session and fall opening on August 26.
Utilities & Long Distance
Utilities are included in rental fees and telephone jacks are provided. Residents will need to bring their own telephone and you are unable to receive collect calls.
You are assigned a local, campus telephone number. If you want long distance service, you will need to contact a long distance carrier.
Child Care
Parents are required to provide adequate supervision and care for their children while on campus. For more information on the Summer Youth Programs visit nau.edu/naurec or call 928-523-1732.
Special Requests & Services

Guests & Pets
The university does not have guest facilities on campus. If students have a need for such accommodations, they should make off campus arrangements.With exception of approved certified assistance animals and fish, pets are not allowed in university housing including academic research animals.
Mail Service
Summer session students who live in a residence hall are assigned a mailbox. To access your assigned PO Box number and combination visit nau.edu/postal. Residents of McKay Village will receive a mailbox key and mailing address at check-in rather than a PO combination.

Linen Service
Most students bring their on linens. You may request two flat sheets, pillow case, and a blanket through the Residence Life Support Services (RLSS) department by obtaining a line card from your summer hall front desk. Linens are exchanged at RLSS, building 24, Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.ml. - 4:30 p.m. Residents are responsible for linen pickup and exchange.

Workshop Housing Information
Workshop housing is for students taking NAU credit classes or workshops for 21 days or less during the 5 week summer sessions. Housing is provided in a variety of buildings and depends on space availability and duration of the stay.
If you are attending a full summer session, as well as a workshop class, you will be assigned to a regular summer session hall. You must submit a summer housing contract instead of a workshop housing contract.
Students may check-in no earlier than 12 p.m., one day before the workshop begins and check-in will occur at the front desk of your assigned hall. You must checkout by 12 p.m. following the close of the workshop.
Families may only include members of the immediate family (husband, wife, and dependant children under 18). A maximum occupancy of 5 people (4 teens or adults max.) per suite are allowed.
To apply for workshop housing, you must submit the workshop housing contract along with a $25 non-refundable application fee.
