Why did you choose to live in a Learning Community?

I was given a call during the summer before I started my first semester and was asked if I was interested in being in the Tree House. I was not sure at first but I eventually decided that my interests would probably fit with many of the students in the Learning Community. I figured that I would not know any roommate that I was going to be paired with, so it would not hurt to have one with the same major.

What has been the best part of living in a Learning Community?

My favorite part of living in the Tree House is the friends that I have made because of our interests and all of the classes that we have together. Living in the Tree House has made it easier to adjust to college because of the friends I have made.

What is your favorite part of living on campus?

I think that living on campus has helped me to make more friends than if I were to have started college off campus. I have met so many people because I have lived in the dorms. Going to class has been easier because I can just walk from my dorm; I don't have to drive from an apartment.

What would you say to a student who is trying to decide whether or not to live in an LC?

I would highly recommend that anyone considering a Learning Community should join. It might not seem like having the same major will encourage one person to get along with another but just having small similarities can make a huge difference, especially freshman year.
