What do you like best about living in your Learning Community?
I love the people, this Learning Community attracts people that are amazing and that love all the same exciting things that I love.
What do you like best about being an Resident Advisor in your Learning Community?
I love being able to help other people feel comfortable and happy here and I love the fact that everyone comes into it with a common interest in outdoor recreation. The coolest thing about this Learning Community is that you don’t have to be a certain major to join; you just have to love the outdoors. We get all kinds of different people with other cool interests so we just hang out and play and get to know each other.
What are the benefits of living in a Learning Community?
I personally think it’s the best thing you could do for yourself as a freshman. I mean, putting yourself in a position to live with people who like the same things that you do, you’re bound to make strong friendships and connections right off the bat, and that is what is important. I was a part of this LC my freshman year and I’m not sure that I’d still be here today if it wasn’t for that. I met my best friends to this day through this community and learned so much about all the amazing outdoor things that you can do in Flagstaff that have kept me safely occupied while I’ve been here.
What has been the best Learning Community event for you, and why?
Well, that is really hard for me to say as this is the third year that I’ve participated in this group. I’m not even sure that I am able to pick one. I love everything about this group and the people involved at every event that we’ve done have been wonderful. I do have to admit that I am partial to backpacking so I’ve really enjoyed the backpacking trips that we’ve gone on the last two years. One of the reasons that I love this so much is usually there are a few people who come with us who have never backpacked before, and this trip really opens their eyes to all the opportunities that they have with outdoor recreation. When I see people enjoy something new I feel like I’ve done my job.
