Accepting Learning Community applicants for the 2010-2011 Academic year

The Interior Design Learning Community will bring together 22 students who are majoring in Interior Design. Students will be engaged with faculty members, upper division students, and interior design professionals within the community to gain experiences that will provide them with a strong basis on which to succeed, both academically and professionally. LC residents live together in Sechrist Hall.

 

Common Courses

Seats in certain high-demand classes will be reserved for Interior Design LC residents. Your advisor will help you enroll in these courses, which you will attend with other members of your LC. Visit Priority Enrollment to find out more about enrollment and advising. For fall ’09, seats will be reserved in:

ID 121-Interior Design Graphics
Theory and practice of production drawings and orthographic and perspective projections as they relate to interior design. Emphasizes the use of mechanical drawing and producing scaled working drawings.

MAT 114-Quantitative Reasoning
Contemporary quantitative methods, especially descriptive statistics, elementary probability, examples of statistical inference, linear and exponential models of growth and decay, and applicable discrete models. Fulfills liberal studies foundation requirement.
 

 

Activities and Events

Interior Design Learning Community students will have the opportunity to further define what the ID field means to them. Learning community members will also be members of the NAU’s American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) student chapter.

Field Trips
Students will be visiting Interior Design firms, suppliers and other businesses where they will gain exposure to the interior design industry.

Faculty Dinners
Grab a plate and pick the brains of the professors who share your interests.

Faculty/Career Panels
Professors will talk about career possibilities, suggestions for success and assist in understanding the in’s and out’s of the interior design industry.

Habitat for Humanity
Students will be working with Habitat for Humanity on various projects, when available, throughout Northern Arizona communities.
