SPRING 2008 CHECK LIST FOR NEW STUDENTS

BE CERTAIN YOU ARE ADMITTED. Undergraduate students should visit Undergraduate Admissions (Bldg. #3A-North Union) or call 888-667-3628 or (928) 523-5511. If you are a graduate student, visit Graduate Admissions (Bldg. #11 - Ashurst) or call (928) 523-4343.

Register for Orientation, our premier New Student Orientation and class enrollment program. At Orientation, you will meet with an academic advisor, enroll in your first semester classes, meet other new students, faculty members and student service providers, and have the opportunity to explore resources available to you as an NAU student. To reserve your spot at Orientation, log on to www4nau.edu/nsp.

Always carry your student ID card with you.

Your LOUIE user id and student E-Mail account was created during the admissions process. If you experience difficulty with your user ID or password, visit http://www.nau.edu/louie and select Login Problems?

Check LOUIE to ensure that your address information is current.

Fronske Health Services (Bldg. #41) must have your proof of immunization before you can enroll.

Obtain your student photo ID card in the University Union (Bldg. #30) room 115A.

If you need information regarding on-campus housing options, visit the Office of Residence Life at North Morton Hall (Bldg. #5) on the first floor, or log on to http://www.nau.edu/reslife.

If you need information regarding dining services and meal plans, visit Dining Services in the University Union (Bldg. #30) room 211, or log on to http://www.nau.edu/dining.

For advisement purposes, have with you all transcripts from all previously attended college community colleges or universities. Even if you have sent official transcripts to NAU, your advisor may not have access to those records. If you do not have copies of your transcripts, unofficial copies from the web are adequate for initial advising. Or, you can contact Undergraduate Admissions in North Union (Bldg. #3A) or call 888-667-3628 or (928) 523-5511. If you previously attended our institution, visit the Registrar's Office in the Gammage Lobby (Bldg. #1) to request a copy of your transcript.

If you are a new freshman or transfer student, you will meet with an advisor at the Gateway Student Success Center (Bldg. #43) on central campus. If you are a transfer student with more than 29 hours of transfer credit, you will first be advised at the Gateway Center and then referred to your college if you have declared a major. All students with less than 30 credit hours have an advisement hold placed on their record which prevents enrolling in classes until a student visits an academic advisor. When you receive advisement, be sure to ask your advisor to activate your student record for enrollment. To enroll for classes, log in to LOUIE at http://www.nau.edu/louie. You can also enroll for classes in the college of your major or at the Registrar's Office enrollment windows in the Gammage Building Lobby (Bldg. #1).

Students who have been awarded financial aid, compare the total financial aid awarded with the amount owed on the bill sent by the Bursar's Office and pay any difference out-of-pocket before the fee deadline. Also, check LOUIE to ensure that nothing is outstanding on your "To Do List" and that there are no "Holds" preventing your financial aid from paying fees. Please contact the Office of Student Financial Aid in Gammage Administration Building (access via the first floor staircase between the Registrar's and Bursar's offices) if you have questions.

Be prepared to pay your tuition and fees at the time you enroll. Log in to LOUIE at http://www.nau.edu/louie to pay your Spring 2008 charges online/real-time. Credit card payments may also be made by telephone at (928) 523-1122. You may also make payments at the Bursar's Office cashier window in the Gammage Lobby (Bldg. #1). Check with the Bursar's Office for your payment due date.

In accordance with Arizona law, any person who is a citizen or legal resident of the US or who is lawfully present in the US may be eligible for specified financial aid from the university.  Arizona law classifies any person who is a US citizen or who has lawful immigration status and is an Arizona resident as an in-state student for tuition purposes.
