Inclement Weather Policy
In the case of a University delay or closure the WAC will be delayed or closed as well. Early morning Masters/FPAC practice will be canceled if the University is delayed. If the University is closed, all programs are canceled. Please check the main University web site for delay or closure information

Fall 2011

The cost is $150, which includes all books and fees. All participants must pass the pre-requisite tests to participate in the class. All participants must be at least 15 years old.  All class dates and times must be attended to be eligible for certification.

Pre-requisite Test

300-yard swim
100 yards freestyle; 100 yards breastroke; 100 yards freestyle OR breastroke.
Retrieve object
Swim out 20 yards, dive and retreive a 10 lb object from 7–10 ft depth. Return 20 yards holding 10 lb object, swim using only your legs with face above water. Complete in 1 minute, 40 seconds.

Sign up at the Wall Aquatic Center front desk. The Lifeguard Training class is approximately 30 hours long. There is a $25, non-refundable administration fee for anyone that does not pass the pre-requisite test. There are NO REFUNDS for anyone NOT passing the class.

Pre-requisite Test

25-yard swim
Level-4 ability for front crawl, backstroke, breastroke, elementary backstroke, and sidestroke.
15-yard swim
Level-4 ability for the butterfly stroke.
Tread Water
Tread water for 1 minute and float on your back for 1 minute.

Sign up at the Wall Aquatic Center front desk. The Water Safety Instructor (WSI) class is approximately 30 hours long. There is a $25, non-refundable administration fee for anyone that does not pass the pre-requisite test. There are NO REFUNDS for anyone NOT passing the class.

  • Current certification as an ARC Lifeguard
  • All swimming skills
  • Rescue scenarios
  • Written exams

Sign up at the Wall Aquatic Center front desk. The Water Safety Instructor (LGI) class is approximately 26 hours long.

Lifeguard Training/FA Challenge, or
CPR/ARD for the Professional Rescuer Challenge
—Sign up at the Wall Aquatic Center

Anyone wishing to renew their Lifeguard Training/FA or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications and you are currently certified or have been expired for NO MORE than 1 year, can “challenge” the course.

You will have to complete all skills and take the written exam.

Please contact the Wall Aquatic Center to arrange a time for testing at 928-523-6324.

The cost is $75 for Lifeguard/FA/CPR/AED and $50 for CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
