Gymnastics

General Info

-About the Club- the club was founded in Spring '08 and it is open to EVERYONE and anyone who wants to practice/learn or possible compete in gymnastics again. We have all skill levels from those who can't do a cartwheel to people who have competed all their life. We have a lot of fun and practices are always a good workout! We start with any news the club has, do a thorough warm-up/stretch, do some basic line drill stuff and then split up and have fun after a while the last 30 mins or so of practice is for conditioning (and let me tell you we have PLENTY of amazing conditioning workouts planned)
Other than that you can always just come out and have fun! You're not required to come to a certain number of practices, nor are you required to stay the entire time. We're just here to meet new people, and have fun with gymnastics!

-NAIGC- stands for National Association of Intercollegiate Gymnastics Clubs (which we are a member of). They are the organization we are affiliated with so we could compete in meets against other schools. The cool thing is you can do a level 4 routine and still compete, they just want you to come out and have fun! You're not required to do a certain number of events (unless you're AA) but girls scoring is based off level 9 plus bonuses and I believe and boys is.. well I forgot but check out their website www.naigc.net if you want to know more. Also, to make it to nationals all you have to do is compete in at least 1 event for 2 meets and you are qualified! Fun huh? We will talk more about it though once we start again in the fall. We haven't competed in any meets yet but are definitely planning to attend as many as possible this year for the experience. Oh and also, THIS WILL NOT BE REQUIRED it's only if you want to do it :)

-Practice Times-
We practice Tues/Thurs 7:30-9:30PM at Summit Gymnastics Academy during the Fall and Spring Semesters.  Please bring $5, your health insurance card, and your NAU ID card to your first practice.

-Club dues/Practice Fees- as of right now this is how we are handling it:
As of right now, we don't have club dues. However, when you come to SGA practices you will need to pay a one time $35 liability/waiver fee (lasts a year) as well as $5 for every practice you attend. They are really giving us an amazing deal because if you think about it, if you came to every practice it would only be $40/month which is nothing compared to what other gyms might charge!

-Facilities- We currently practice at Summit Gymnastics Academy. They are a full gym designed by a guy who helps designs Olympic Training Centers! So it is very safe, and they keep it extremely clean. The currently have all the girls apparatus, and all boy's apparatus expect for highbar. There is an L-shaped pit which the tumble track runs into, a pit bar is over (both regular and strap bar) and has a beam and a tumble strip go into (the vault is also sometimes moved over the pit so vaulting into the pit is an option too).

check out www.summitgymnasticsacademy.com for directions to the gym.
