Our Mission

To excel in customer service by providing efficient and professional management of department resources in order to establish safe and accessible transit and travel within the campus community in support of the university mission.

San Francisco Garage Opening Fall 2012

Fall 2012 will welcome the addition of 1400 parking spaces on north-central campus at the San Francisco Parking Garage. Permits will be available to faculty, staff, resident or commuter students; as well as offer ample guest parking.

The new garage will also offer immediate access to shuttle services along the transit spine, bike storage, electric charging stations and short-term parking.

Construction is moving along at an amazing pace. We anticipate opening this facility approximately October 2012. If you are interested in ordering a permit for this garage, please check back July 1st on this webpage for permit sale date details.

2012-2013 ecoPASS

Parking and Shuttle Services will purchase and provide the 2012-2013 ecoPASS at no cost to campus employees. More employees took advantage of the program during the 2011-2012 year and those that use the service "love it". ecoPASS stickers will be available at the Parking & Shuttle Services office beginning May 7, 2012.

Parking Lot Changes

The university will take the next steps to continue implementing the campus master plan to consolidate parking and create a more pedestrian friendly environment within the central campus. During summer 2012, this will include the removal of parking lots P9, parallel parking along Osborne Drive, P12 and P19 to allows for a safer east-west pedestrian path. Permit holders are encouraged to park in adjacent lots including P8, P10, P13 or P16.

P43, near SBS, will also be reconfigured to increase pedestrian safety and increase bus access. The old bus barn in P61 will be removed to accomodate more parking spaces. Permit holders are advised to parking in P61 or P62.

2012-2013 Parking Permit Rates:
AVAILABLE JUNE 1, 2012

Permits listed below are valid August 15, 2012 - August 15, 2013

Employee       $390

Student         $430

Garage          $520

Evening Only  $200

Increase in cost is directly in response to rising cost of oil. Rising oil costs obviously impact the funding needed to operate campus shuttle service. Oil is also a main component in the production of asphalt, which is used to repair parking lots.

Students requested a permit for nighttime parking. Therefore, we are proud to bring you the "Evening Only" permit. This permit will allow students with later afternoon and evening classes to parking closer to academic buildings after 4:30 p.m.

  1. Customer service is our top priority. We are here to provide parking, shuttle, information and assistance for your campus transportation needs.
  2. Vehicles must have a permit to park on campus Monday through Friday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm. Employee (AE) and residence hall lots (R1-R6 and Family) require a permit Monday through Friday 7:30 am - 10:00 pm. Students may place the cost of their permit onto their NAU student account (LOUIE).
  3. Benefit-eligible faculty and staff may take advantage of tax savings by paying for their permit using payroll deduction.
  4. All lots are signed indicating designated permit usage. Signs and permits are color-coded to make it easier to use.
  5. Adding or Removing a Vehicle? When adding a vehicle to your account, make sure you have added it to your current permit. If you are removing a vehicle from your account, the vehicle history will remain on your account, but the vehicle will be inactive.
  6. Vehicles with student permits are not permitted at meters as meters are intended for campus guests.
  7. Appeals are submitted online via "Manage My Parking" and take approximately two weeks to render decisions. Decisions are posted to your "Manage My Parking" account and e-mails are sent every Friday.

  9. Weekend guests to campus do not need a permit but may not park in restricted areas or fire lanes. Weekend guests must have an ADA placard to use ADA stalls.
  10. ADA stalls are available throughout campus and require an ADA placard in conjunction with an NAU parking permit.
