Regents approve cost revision for Yuma research building
The Arizona Board of Regents granted NAU approval to revise its cost for constructing a new research building at NAU-Yuma from $4 million to $6.5 million. Campus community celebrates
Black History Month

Grammy award-winning Ladysmith Black Mambazo will perform Feb. 22 at Prochnow Auditorium as part of the university’s Black History Month celebration. This year's theme, "Voices from the African Diaspora," is reflected through an array of educational, entertaining and interactive events. Each event is meant to educate participants on many topics related to African Americans and inspire them to embrace the challenges of the future. Read more…
 

Dance team advances to finals
The Northern Arizona University dance team finished fourth in Division 1 Hip Hop at the Universal Dance Association College Dance Team National Championships at Walt Disney World last week. The team competed against 24 other Division 1 schools before advancing to the finals, where they out-performed teams from the University of Delaware, University of California-Davis, George Mason University, Southeastern Louisiana University, George Washington University, Idaho State University and Saint Joseph's University. 'Law & Order' star coming to campus
Award-winning actor B.D. Wong, who plays Dr. George Huang on NBC's Law & Order Special Victims Unit, will speak on Feb. 28 about racism and tolerance. Wong's career includes acting and directing on and off Broadway and in numerous movies and television shows, filmmaking, and writing his memoir, Following Foo: The Electronic Adventures of the Chestnut Man, published in 2003.  Wong won a Tony Award for his Broadway debut in Madame Butterfly. Athletics Update
The men’s and women’s basketball teams continue Big Sky Conference action this week. The track and field team hosts the Mountain Ts Invitational Friday and Saturday in the Walkup Skydome.

Sadé (Shaw-day) Cunningham led the Lumberjacks to two Big Sky wins at home last week, including an 82-67 upset over then league-leading Idaho State on Jan. 24. NAU also defeated Weber State 75-63 on Jan. 26. It was the first conference sweep of the season for the Lumberjacks and their first back-to-back wins since the season started in November.

The junior point guard averaged 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game in the two wins. She shot 54.5 percent from the field, including 80 percent from beyond the arc.

In the victory over the Bengals, Cunningham scored 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field and dished out seven assists. She also sank 3-of-3 from the free-throw line, grabbed a career-high six rebounds and recorded four steals.

Against Weber State, Cunningham scored 19 points and went 4-of-5 from 3-point territory. She tallied six assists and four rebounds. The native of Lynwood, Calif., played all 40 minutes in both contests.

Cunningham's impressive week earned her Big Sky Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week, the second weekly award of her career.
