Our Mission

Consistent with the forgoing general purposes, the mission and objectives of Parent Services Council shall be:

The mission of the Parent Services Council shall be to foster open communication between the university and parents of its students and to engage parents and students in the life of the University by encouraging interest, participation and support of the university and Parent Services Council and their programs, thus enhancing the quality of both the student and parent experience during their years directly associated with the university.

Purpose

The purposes of Parent Services Council are:

1. To advance the mission and goals of Northern Arizona University through the establishment and maintenance of contact between the university and the parents of its students.
2. To provide a medium through which parents of current students can develop an interest in the progress and needs of Northern Arizona University, can contribute to the well-being of the University and can foster beneficial relations among its members and the University.
3. To support the Northern Arizona University Administration in fostering and encouraging exemplary scholarship by our students.

Objectives

The council will accomplish this mission by providing a medium through which the parents and families of Northern Arizona University students can:

1. Facilitate productive contact and mentoring by parents of present or former Northern Arizona University students as a service to the parents of other students or of new or prospective students.
2. Support Northern Arizona University in the continuing recruitment of outstanding students, ease their transition to university life, and increase their retention until graduation.
3. Make recommendations to Northern Arizona University through the Office of New Student Programs regarding activities, matters, or issues relevant to parents of our students and regarding the activities of the Parent Services Council.
4. Encourage financial support of Northern Arizona University by undertaking membership and fundraising activities seeking donations and gift participation by parents of former, present or future students or any other interested persons in accordance with guidelines of the Northern Arizona University Foundation and the Office of New Student Programs.
5. Select Northern Arizona University students for scholarship awards from funds raised by the Parent Services Council.
6. Fund special projects requested by Northern Arizona University and approved by the Executive Board on behalf of Parent Services Council.
