Working with a Renowned Playwright

NAU Presents American Playwright Tina Howe

The Department of Theatre will be presenting a new translation of Ionesco’s plays “The Bald Soprano” and “The Lesson” by American Playwright Tina Howe.  Ms Howe will be in residence during the performance period and will offer workshops, small group master classes, and other events for both Theatre students and writers from the English Department.  Workshops are also planned for Women’s Studies and philosophy students.

This event is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Theatre students and student writers.  As many as 400 students from multiple departments will be able to work with a playwright who has had her work produced on the professional stages of Broadway.  She was nominated for a Tony Award for best play.  Ms Howe has worked very successfully with college students in the past, sharing her love for both the theatre and writing.

Gifts to this project will be matched from the combined efforts of both the Theatre and English Departments.

The amount still needed to make this project possible is $3,150.
