How to Make a Gift

Your gift can be designated to these and other areas of the university of your choosing.

There are a number of effective means of giving to the university including direct cash as well as estate and matching gifts. To learn more about how you can honor your son or daughter this way, visit NAU Advancement. Or make an online gift directly to our Parent Funds.

Parent Giving

Thanks to hundreds of parents (and grandparents) who have supported programs and scholarships, students from all walks of life can have a full undergraduate education experience.  Here are ways you can have a direct impact.

Parent Funds

Our parent funds are made up of pooled gifts, collectively contributing to programs that make a difference to parents and students.

  • The NAU Parent Fund supports projects that benefit both parents and students, such as the retention-oriented Parent & Family University, Family Weekend events, and other outreach efforts.
  • The Micro Grant Fund, as recommended by the university’s Parent Leadership Council, awards grants of up to $3,500 to enhance curriculum and support other student-oriented initiatives.
  • The Parent Scholarship Fund keeps education accessible and limits post-graduation debt for returning students.

Gifts to the Parent Funds can be made directly online, or for more information on other ways to give, visit NAU Advancement.

Named Scholarships

Another way to support students is through scholarship assistance, which also represents one of their most pressing needs.

Last year, nearly 75 percent of NAU undergraduate students received some level of financial assistance.

While gifts in any amount may be directed to our Parent Scholarship Fund, many people prefer to create a specially named fund to honor their child or family.

Scholarships may be designated for students within a particular discipline or those with specific needs. There are two types of named scholarships—endowed and non-endowed. Endowed scholarships are funded with a steady stream of annual income from permanently invested funds. A minimum of $25,000 payable over time establishes the endowed fund, which can be designated according to your wishes. Or with a $5,000 non-endowed scholarship, the entire gift minus the reinvestment fee (varies by gift level) is spent over a specific period. For more information on how to support a named scholarship, email Rebecca.Garrett@nau.edu.

Student Support

Gifts of any size to these areas enhance student life and contribute to your student’s well-being on campus.
