Are you ready for adventure? The Backpacking and Cooking week will provide you with the skills needed to backpack throughout the southwest while preparing tasty and satisfying meals that will leave your follow backpackers mouths-watering.

Meet the Instructors-

Paige Healy:
Paige is the lead instructor of the program and comes to NAU from Virginia. She is currently working on a degree in Parks and Recreation Management. Paige works with NAU Outdoors as a Challenge Course Supervisor, Trip Leader and Rental Window Assistant and is a certified Wilderness First Responder and Leave-No-Trace Trainer.

Matt Moore:
Matt is currently completing his degree in Parks and Recreation Management with an internship with NAU Outdoors. Matt comes to NAU from Massachusetts. He is a certified Wilderness First Responder, Challenge Course Facilitator, Leave-No-Trace Trainer and soon to be EMT.
Matt has been backpacking and camping for the last 9 years and has explored a variety of wilderness areas including Sierra Nevada’s/California, a majority of New England and the North East, the South West, and the Appalachian Trail But in Northern California has provided the most memorable experience. "It is just a stellar place and the temperate rain forest has a wealth of knowledge to give. It is a place everyone should visit."

What are the times and dates of the program?
The Backpacking and Cooking week will run from July 16-20. Each morning the program will meet at 8:30AM and the students will be ready to be picked up at 3:00PM.
