The NAU Challenge Course has been working for over 10 years with many local and regional organizations, serving students grades 5-12. Nearly all of these camps, conferences and youth organizations choose to regularly integrate an adventure-based experience into their program.
Youth today thirst for adventure and long to take risks!It is critical in youths’ development that we provide them with the opportunities to feel as though they are taking these risks in a positive, safe and controlled environment. At the same time we can foster respect, trust, and cooperation among these youth-skills that are crucial to possess in higher education and in the workplace.
Standards
In education today, we need to be able to measure and assess the learning in happening inside and outside of the classroom. The NAU Challenge Course has identified some of the standards that the state of Arizona holds to be important in the learning situations that we provide outside of the classroom. Although we can not guarantee that each of these standards is met within a one day experience, we can provide the opportunity for students grasp the concepts of standards that have been predetermined by the program. Funding Sources
We are currently looking to provide grant and funding resources to help expand the opportunities for non-profit and educational programs on the Challenge Course. If you have a funding source that you can share with other programs or you would like to contribute to other challenge course programs please contact us.
Trainings
The NAU Challenge Course provides opportunities for directors and staff to add their knowledge and bring a piece of the Challenge Course to their program. Experiential Education for the Classroom, Adventure-Based Activities for Teambuilding and Challenge Course Facilitator Training provide unique learning experiences that instill experiential education in action.
