What exactly is the Challenge Course?

At the NAU Challenge Course we provide teambuilding experiences to help build group cohesiveness.  We use activities that develop a sense of adventure to address topics such as communication, trust and problem-solving.  These activities range from ground based problem-solving activities to walking across a balance beam 40 ft in the air.

The Challenge Course is comprised of three types of tools: Games and Initiatives, Low Elements, and High Elements. Each of these can be customized to best fulfill the needs of your group and create an experience that provides the greatest opportunity for growth and development.

Games and Initiatives
Through the use of play and hypothetical experiences NAU certified facilitators will lead your group through a gradual increase in group and individual challenge activities. These activities range from tag games and icebreakers to complex logical or physical tasks. This process will hopefully transform your group into a positive support base that will foster individual risks and growth.

Low Elements
On the low elements participants begin to model and further develop the supportive environment that is necessary on the High Elements but will remain at ground level. Many of these activities such as the Spider’s Web and a Trust Sequence will help each participant build confidence in the other group members.

High Elements
The High Elements provide the opportunity for the individuals of the group to practice success and choice with in their comfort level. Through the use of perceived risk and total support individuals can begin to realize how to succeed. Each of these activities begins at ground level and culminates between 25-30 feet off the ground.
