Employment with the NAU Challenge Course

On the NAU Challenge Course we are always searching for quality individuals interested in becoming NAU Challenge Course Facilitators, Challenge Course Interns or working with our Summer Programs. Work on the NAUCC is both highly rewarding and challenging.

NAU Challenge Course Facilitator

The first step to become a facilitator is taking our Facilitator Training if you have never worked on a ropes course before or contact the course manager Nicholas Hagemann (Nicholas.Hagemann@nau.eduor 928-523-5010) if you have previous facilitation experience.Once you have completed the training, you will need to participate in our shadow program for a minimum of 30 hours. Through these shadows we hope that you will be able to see the practical aspects of being a facilitator and continue to develop your facilitation skills with actual clients. When your shadows are complete you will need to schedule an interview with the course manger for the final preparations.

As a facilitator you will have all of the perks of being part of the NAU Outdoors community.

NAU Challenge Course Internship

Each Fall, Spring and Summer, the NAU Challenge Course offers a one semester internship designed to provide a qualified candidate an opportunity to develop all of the skills needed to manage a challenge course. The intern will be compensated either room and board or a weekly stipend and opportunities to be certified as a Wilderness First Responder, Leave No Trace Trainer at no cost, and attend/present at national conferences. Summer Program Positions

Mountain Jacks Kids Camp Experiential Education
Each summer the NAU Challenge Course provides experiential education programming for the Mountain Jacks Kids Camp(MJKC). MJKC is a summer day camp for children aged 5-12. The experiential education position will provide twenty hours of programming focused around adventure-based activities, project learning, climbing wall and basic outdoor survival skills. Summer Practicum Students
Each summer select PRM students use the Challenge Course to complete their PRM 308 (3) Practicum in Parks & Recreation Management course work. The practicum experience includes providing adventure-based activities for a variety of organizations and a special project tailored to meet the needs of the student.
