JacksCard

Terms and Conditions:

Your JacksCard is the property of Northern Arizona University and is not transferable. It will be confiscated if misused. Unauthorized use of your JacksCard, use by a party other than the person identified on the card, and tampering with or altering the card, warrant confiscation and possible disciplinary action by the university.

Personal information will not be provided to any agency outside of Northern Arizona University by the JacksCard Office without your permission. This includes your name, picture, ID number, card number and balance or purchases made on your JDE or dining dollar account.

Carry your JacksCard at all times. It is required for:

  • Residence Hall access
  • Checking out library materials
  • Registering motor vehicles
  • Obtaining campus paychecks
  • Verifying enrollment
  • Admission to athletic, cultural and recreational events and facilities, etc.

The cardholder is responsible for the care and use of their JacksCard. Replacement JacksCards cost $25.

A student JacksCard does not expire. If you withdraw from NAU and subsequently re-enroll or enroll for non-contiguous semesters, the JacksCard from your previous enrollment may be used.

To obtain your JacksCard you must visit our office. You must bring a government or state-issued photo identification such as a driver's license, state identification card, passport or military ID. High school identification is NOT accepted as valid identification.

  • Cardholders are responsible for picking up cards in person. JacksCards are not sent through the mail except to cardholders who are attending an official Extended Campuses site.
  • Students and affiliates pay $25 for their first card. Any replacement card is $25.
  • Employee status takes precedence over student status for the purpose of issuing JacksCards. Employees who are also taking classes may opt to purchase a Student ID card.
  • In the case of a name change this must first be made with the Registrar before a JacksCard can be re-issued with the new name.
  • Names may not be abbreviated or otherwise modified by JacksCard personnel.
  • Your ID Number is your NAU Empl ID number. This is the seven digit number printed on the front of your JacksCard. You are recommended to keep your Empl ID number to yourself.
  • The JacksCard Office is not an extension of the Bursar's Office, and is unable to take payments against any charges on student accounts.

Rules & Responsibilities

  1. Lost or stolen cards must be reported immediately. You can report it online by logging into your account from the JacksCard Office home page or by calling the JacksCard Office during our regular business hours at 928-523-1905. If you don't have your card, someone else might, so do not take a chance.
  2. JacksCard is not responsible for any fraudulent charges or debits made to your JDE account. Charges to your account may happen if someone swipes an offline reader. When the reader goes back online, those charges will post to your JDE account whether or not there is money in the account. A debit to your JDE account occurs when your available fund balance reduces after making a purchase.
  3. Never punch holes or deface your card beyond its normal everyday use. Cards that have been damaged or defaced will carry a $25 replacement fee.
  4. JDE and Dining Dollars are non-transferable. Only the person pictured on the card will be allowed to spend money from these accounts. The cardholder may be required to sign a receipt for goods received.
  5. Cash cannot be withdrawn from the JDE account; however, refunds are granted if the balance on the JDE account is $25 or more on the date you officially leave the university (by graduating, withdrawing from the university or terminating employment). Refunds come in the form of a check and are mailed to the address provided. All refunds must be submitted to our office by email or in person using the JDE Refund Request Form. Balances left in the JDE account carry over to the next semester and from year-to-year for active accounts. Inactive accounts of six months or more forfeit their account balance.
  6. The cardholder is responsible for maintaining a valid JacksCard, which is in proper working condition. The JacksCard is the access device for the JDE account. The card must be presented at the time of purchase and shall be the only means of accessing the participant's account.
