

Dr. Richard G. McNeill, CHME joined the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management (SHRM) at Northern Arizona University in the Fall of 1989 after a career in sales and marketing management with a premier conference resort and hotel management company. Additionally, he founded and operated a firm that represented several Fortune 500 companies in negotiating with hotel and transportation suppliers for large corporate meetings. In addition to his industry experience, he was dean at a propriety graduate business school serving working adults and taught graduate level marketing and international business courses.
As an Associate Professor at NAU, he teaches Hospitality Sales Management, Hospitality Marketing, and International Hospitality Operations. McNeill's doctorate work focused on continuous quality improvement models as applied to undergraduate hospitality administration programs. He integrates quality process concepts into all of his business related courses.
His research interests include hospitality marketing and sales with primary emphasis on consultative selling to the meetings and conventions markets. His publications, seminars, and consulting work primarily focus on strategy and tactical and practical implementation of sophisticated and complex selling in hospitality related business-to-business markets.
Dr. McNeill is the Executive Director of The Hospitality Sales Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancement and dissemination of knowledge focused on “go-to-market” systems in the hospitality industry.
