

Ronald A. Evans, a professor, served as the Dean of the School from 1998 to 2004. Prior to NAU, Evans was president and CEO of Best Western International, Inc. for nearly 20 years. Under his leadership, Best Western expanded to seventy-eight countries and territories to become world's largest lodging brand, with nearly 3,800 hotels.
Evans has held a number of top management and finance-related positions in the industry. He also served as chairman of the HRM's advisory Board for five years and has been an active advocate of education and training via leadership roles in the American Hotel and Motel Association and its Educational Institute. He holds the institute's prestigious certified hotel administrator designation.
Evans earned his B.S. degree from ASU in 1963. In 1993, he was named to the Arizona State University, College of Business Hall of Fame. In 1994, he was named a member of the Issues Task Force for the first-ever White House Conference on Travel and Tourism, and was selected by the Secretary of Commerce to represent the U.S. hospitality industry on a presidential business development and peacekeeping mission to Northern Ireland.
