BOARD MEMBER PROFILE
This year is a special year for HRM because the School is now 20 years old. The School of Hotel and Restaurant Management became a reality because of the efforts National Advisory Board member Dr. Eugene M. Hughes. As HRM's "master architect," Dr. Hughes was recognized in 1997, by the renaming the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management building in his honor. This building is a symbol of his vision, courage, enthusiasm, and persuasive ability. In retirement and after serving as President for three different universities (NAU, Wichita State University, and Eastern Kentucky University), he continues to help our school.
NATIONAL ADVISORY BOARD
Not only does the school reach out to industry to stay on top of new developments, it also actively involves industry leaders in the school’s planning and strategizing. The board members represent all major sectors of the hospitality industry and bring a strong dose of “real world” input regarding industry trends and needs. Meetings between board members and faculty, administration, and students ensure that school’s curriculum stays on target with the industry.
