WELCOME TO HRM

Welcome to the Nationally Ranked School of Hotel and Restaurant Management

The School of Hotel and Restaurant Management was created in 1986 in recognition of the need to develop a strong hospitality program to meet the needs of the industry in Arizona. Since that time, the school has grown to offer one of the largest and most respected hospitality programs in the world.

The Arizona Hospitality and Research Center, under the umbrella of the services offered by the NAU-FCB Center for Business Outreach, conducts applied research, presents seminars and training workshops, and develops online learning modules.

The academic facility houses lecture and seminar rooms, and a computer lab.

Looking Forward:
Renovating The Inn

The latest news on the campus evolution front is that The Inn at NAU closed for a remodel and repurpose.

The 19-room Inn at NAU, which included the Garden Terrace Restaurant and the Golden Eagle Lounge, closed June 30, 2008. Beginning July 1, 2008 construction will begin on a 12,000 square foot state-of-the-art kitchen and training facility which will include demo labs, hotel room mock-ups, classroom facilities, and office space.

The internships and educational opportunities that were part of the Inn and the restaurant are now offered  through our partners in the hospitality industry, including Sodexho International  and NAU's High Country Conference Center (open for business in Spring 2008) on north campus. HRM will now offer a conference center component to its current curriculum.

The school is comprised of students, faculty, researchers, practitioners, and staffers all working together to help and shape and grow tomorrow’s professional workforce. That means helping not only traditional college students, but also older students preparing for a career change or advancement. The School’s 4-year bachelor’s degree is available via partnership programs with Pima Community and Scottsdale Community colleges, as well as online.

We are preparing professionals for an industry that loves change-one where mergers and rebranding are a way of life. We want our graduates to be able to have an internal toolbox of skills and attitudes that help them adapt and thrive. That means technical skills, but also people skills. It means thinking in terms of keeping service fresh and lively. Our recruiters like that.

And now you have a chance to become a part of this dynamic program.

Thanks for your interest in the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management. We hope you'll find everything you'd like to know on these pages, and encourage you to visit us often, not only in cyberspace but in person as well.
