John Doherty

John Doherty

John Doherty earned his B.A. in English from the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland, and his M.A. in Arthurian Literature from the University of Wales. He also holds an M.A. in librarianship from the University of Arizona and earned a doctoral degree in curriculum and instruction from NAU. John is a librarian with Cline Library, leading the library’s Arts and Letters resource specialist team. His interests include contemporary Arthurian Literature, post-colonial studies, and critical/conflict theory in online learning and library philosophy and practice.

Lisa Eutsey

Lisa Eutsey earned her B.A. in English and History at Youngstown State University and her M.A. in English at Penn State University.  She is currently a doctoral candidate in English at Penn State University.  In addition to teaching for the Honor’s Program, Lisa also teaches courses for the School of Communication. Her interests include 19th century British literature, colonialism, detective fiction, and studies of the novel. Her dissertation is a study of Anthony Trollope’s fiction read in a colonial context.

 

Bruce Fox

Bruce Fox

Bruce Fox is a professor of forest management and former Director of NAU’s Honors Program. He has been at NAU since 1985. He served as Chair of the School of Forestry for the 2001-2002 academic year and served as the interim chair from 1999-01. He earned his doctorate degree in natural resources, with a specialty in forest economics and policy, from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and both his Master of Forestry and bachelor of science in forestry degrees from the University of California-Berkeley. Prior to his start at NAU, Dr. Fox worked as a field forester in private industry in South Carolina. He is a Registered Professional Forester in the state of California.

 

Glenn Hansen

Glenn Hansen

Glenn graduated from Northern Arizona University twice—once with a Bachelor’s degree in History in 1993 and again in 2004 with a Master’s in English (emphasis in Rhetoric). He also holds a Master’s degree in College Student Development and Administration from University of Wisconsin La Crosse. When not working for Honors as a Senior Program Coordinator, Glenn spends his time running, gardening, playing softball, riding his mountain bike, and (most importantly) spending time with his family--he is married and has a son and a daughter.

Kevin Ketchner

Kevin Ketchner

Kevin Ketchner is the Consortium of Professional Schools Team Leader for the Cline Library, providing proactive leadership that supports campus and distributed curriculums and initiatives. He has engaged students with his creative teaching style for over 15 years and has published and presented on timely topics including the Freshman Year Experience and Innovative Instruction for the Freshman Year. He has taught campus based and distributed classes and presented regionally, nationally and internationally. Kevin is a laid back person with a love for adventure and new experiences. He is active in a variety of sports and activities but appreciates sitting down to good conversation or a good book just as much. He is married with three boys.

Kerri Quinn

Kerri Quinn holds a B.A. in English and Spanish and M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language from Northern Arizona University and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern Mississippi. Her specialties include creative writing (fiction and playwriting) and Modern American and British Literature. Her interests include Women Writers, Southern Literature, and drama. She loves to teach writing, read and hike.

Anne Scott

Anne Scott

Dr. Scott is the Acting Director of NAU's Honors Program and an Associate Professor in the English Dept. She holds a B.A. (with  honors) from the University of Colorado at Boulder and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Brown University in Rhode Island. She has taught in honors programs for 12 years, the last 8 in NAU's Honors Program. Her specialties include medieval literature and Native American literature. She is, by training and preference, interdisciplinary in her interests and focus, and she loves to teach.

 

 

Katie Sheridan

Katie Sheridan

Katie Sheridan earned her B.A. in English and Art at Austin College and her M.A. in English Literature at Northern Arizona University. She has taught both in the English Department and in the Honors Program at NAU. Katie is also currently the Academic Advisor for the Honors Program. Katie’s interests include Women Writers, Multi-Ethnic Literature, popular culture studies, and composition.

 

 

Robyn Slayton-Martin

Robyn Slayton-Martin is a 4th generation native of Flagstaff.  Her NAU roots run deep:  her grandmother earned her teaching certificate from NAU (then the Arizona Normal School) in 1922, her parents earned their education degrees from NAU (then Arizona State College) in the 1950s, and Robyn earned both her B.A. degree in English and her M.A. Degree in English (Rhetoric and Professional Writing) from NAU. In addition to teaching in Honors, Robyn has also taught in the English Department. When she's not running a trail on the Peaks or the high desert, Robyn can most likely be found running a river somewhere on the Colorado Plateau. Robyn's broad interests include environmental as well as contemporary Southwestern literature.

Art Wilson

Art Wilson

Art Wilson earned a Ph.D. in nuclear physics from Rice University. He then founded the Applied Research Department for a major oil company in Houston. He learned geology, geophysics, engineering, law, finance and accounting, strategic planning, and management science and later taught these in graduate courses at the University of Phoenix. Art finished as the Corporate VP for US Operations. He then used personal savings to start environmental companies with new technology to eliminate air, soil, and water pollution. When this venture proved unsuccessful, he returned to Flagstaff, where he was raised, and worked as a substitute teacher in the Flagstaff and Grand Canyon school districts. Art has since taught for the University of Phoenix as well as physics for both Coconino Community College and NAU.

Barbara Youngs

Barbara is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and has taught in the NAU Honors Department since 2004.  She has also taught for Navajo Community College and St. Michael’s High School on the Navajo Reservation.  For more than 15 years she worked as a writer in the San Francisco Bay Area in the fields of public relations, trade journals, marketing, healthcare education, and a wide variety of corporate communications.  Her favorite literary genre is the short story.  She has a husband, two sons, four cats, twelve chickens, and a really big dog.

Lynn Gardner

Lynn Gardner

Lynn Gardner graduated from West Virginia University with a doctorate in Counseling Psychology in 1987. She has taught HON 344, Optimal Living, each semester for five years. Although she closed her clinical practice in the private sector and returned to university work, she continues to be fascinated and inspired by the ability of individuals and groups in the workplace and classroom to recreate their lives in new and better ways. She has long been intrigued with spirituality as expressed through the art, symbols, and stories of different cultures throughout time. She is a world traveler, especially interested in Asia. She stays energized by writing creative nonfiction.
