Michael Smith Bio

Michael D. Smith, MA

With a background in elementary education and as one of the nation’s promising emerging elite runners, Mike Smith is well-suited to coach and mentor young members of TEAM ALTIUS.

As a collegiate athlete, Mike was a natural leader as co-captain of the Georgetown Men’s Track and Field and Cross Country teams, earning numerous awards and accolades in the sport of running.  He has volunteered with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America, and in a Moscow orphanage, demonstrating his compassion and commitment to working with, and helping, youth.

Mike’s running career continues as he has qualified to compete in the U.S. Olympic Trials in the marathon, to be held November 2007 in New York City.
