The training center offers 3-day Introductory Altitude Camps for high school teams, club teams, and their coaches. This offering is a part of the training center’s Community Olympic Development Program and primarily is geared toward cross-country runners, and track athletes, 800m and up. Teams in other sports are welcome to take part in an Introductory Altitude Camp if the camp offerings fit their training goals.
The purpose of the Introductory Altitude Camp is to provide an opportunity for coaches to bring their young athletes to Northern Arizona University to learn how elite athletes train and to get a participatory glimpse of their daily training schedule.
Teams wishing to stay in the campus residence halls may schedule their visit any time from June 1 to July 31. Teams open to staying in a nearby hotel at a discounted rate may come at any time of the year. All bookings are pending availability of the training center’s Head Distance Coach, Dr. Jack Daniels. Each group is responsible for bringing enough staff and/or chaperones to provide at least one adult for every 10 runners.
