About

Elite athletes training through NAU have won 191 Olympic and Paralympic medals since the 1996 Games in Atlanta.

Since 1994, NAU has hosted nearly 6,000 athletes from 41 countries in 15 different sports.

More than 75% of all athletes and teams training with NAU return for repeat training camps

NAU is designated an official U.S. Olympic Training Site
by the U.S. Olympic Committee, one of only 10 in the nation.

NAU is home to a Community Olympic Development Program
which serves area youth including regional Indian tribes.

The Center for High Altitude Training’s running club, Team Altius, provides elite-level training to community members of all ages and abilities.

The U.S. Olympic Committee includes NAU among a select group of official Community Partners focusing on Olympic and Paralympic education and outreach.

As a designated USA Track & Field Training Center, NAU operates the Flagstaff Running Project, a training program serving the nation’s most promising emerging elite and elite distance runners.

NAU partners with the USOC’s Performance Services Division to produce an Altitude Training Symposium approximately every two years.

The estimated annual impact of visiting athletes and teams training through NAU on the local economy is more than $1.5 million.
