Fraternity Recruitment

Introduction

Fall 2011 Recruitment (Rush Week) will take place September 12-18, 2011 starting with a Fraternity Recruitment Fair on September 12, 2011 in the University Union at 7:00 PM. Interested participants will have the opportunity to meet with all 13 fraternities to get a sense of their values, philanthropic endeavors, and social activities.  September 12-18, 2011 each organization will have their own approved individualized recruitment calendar of events.

Who is eligible to participate in Fraternity Recruitment?

All current Northern Arizona University students are welcome to participate in fraternity recruitment. Each organization has their own GPA requirement for membership, which they will share with you at the beginning of Recruitment week.

How does a participant sign up for Recruitment?

It is not necessary to sign up for fraternity recruitment.  If you would like to get on our interest list which is given to all fraternities so they can contact you and let you know about their Rush events please contact the Greek Life Office at 928-523-5840 or e-mail greek.life@nau.edu with your name and email address.

What should a participant expect?

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about each organization and spend time with as many chapters as they would like throughout the week.  Events are scheduled so student participants and current active fraternity men can get to know one another and make a mutual membership selection.  Invitations for membership will be delivered throughout the week; however, we encourage all interested participants to take the week to visit with a variety of chapters to ensure an educated choice.  Alcohol is strictly prohibited at all recruitment events/activities.

Financial obligations

Fraternity dues average about $425.00/semester, which pays for activities, insurance, and national organization dues.  Some organizations have one time fees for new members in their first semester of involvement, which pay for initiation costs, membership manuals, and a membership badge.  Our fraternities and sororities do offer payment plans to assist students in meeting these financial obligations.  Questions regarding specific fees (and how this money is spent) for each organization should be directed to the individual fraternity.  It is important to note that members do not have to pay dues after graduating from college, but will continue to reap the benefits of lifelong membership (involvement with alumni chapters, publications from national organization, and networking with fellow brothers from across the world).
