As a Senior Companion Volunteer, seniors will visit home or bed bound adults during the week and help them accomplish tasks that would be otherwise difficult or impossible to accomplish. You make a difference.

The Senior Companion Program is open to men and women who:

• Are 60 years of age or older
• Have the desire to help homebound adults age 50 or older
• Meet income guidelines as established by the federal government
• Can serve a minimum of 15 hours to a maximum of 40 hours weekly

Program Goal

The Senior Companion Program is a service initiative through which people age 60 or older provide assistance and friendship to elderly individuals who are homebound. By taking care of simple chores, providing transportation to medical appointments, and offering contact to the outside world, Senior Companions often provide the services that frail elderly need to live independently.

Once you have become a volunteer, the local SCP project will provide 40 hours of pre-service training to give you a preliminary background and then you will be linked with the local volunteer agency. The agency places you with a homebound adult, whom you will assist with daily living needs.
