The File of Life is a 3x5 red plastic, magnetic file folder that attaches to the refrigerator. It contains vitally important information about the bearer so that emergency response personnel have access to personal medical information.
NAU RSVP of Northern Arizona Volunteers are distributing the File of life and the Emergency Beacon Adapter to Coconino County. Emergency medical personnel in this county have been trained to look for the File of Life and Emergency Beacons.
Mark Venuti, the director of Guardian Ambulance in Flagstaff says, "I think it's a great program - it makes the whole process run more smoothly. We don't take extra time to either find or figure out the information listed."
The File of Life is not just for emergencies; it can be used at doctor's appointments or the pharmacy. As one Flagstaff File of Life user put it, "Sometimes it is hard to remember what medications I am on for what."
