NOTE: Here's a list of Family Weekend 2007 events. This year's events will be posted in summer 2008.

Many Family Weekend events are free, and open to the public. Ticketed events are noted below.

 

Friday, October 12, 2007

6 AM–9 PM
Enjoy free use of
Recreation Center Facilities (guests 14 years and older), including the weight room, basketball courts, and more. (bldg. 25).

8 AM–5 PM
The NAU Bookstore
is offering card-holding Parent’s Association members a 20% discount on regularly priced clothing, gift, and general book purchases. Free “Lumberjack Rally Towels” will be given to customers at the main store while supplies last. (bldg. 35).

10 AM–4 PM
NAU Art Museum.
Contemporary Reliquaries: Housing the Memories of Our Day, and
The Quality of Insecurity, Dee Hibbert-Jones. Museum Gallery at Old Main, bldg. #10.

11:30 AM–1:15 PM
Open Swim: Swim where Olympians swim!
Take a free dip at the Wall Aquatic Center, one of the finest high altitude swimming facilities anywhere in the world with an Olympic-size pool and state-of-the-art aquatics technology.  Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult (bldg. 21a).

5:30 PM
Lowell Observatory. Visitors are welcome. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for students with IDs, seniors, and AAA and $3 for children 5-18.

7–8:30 PM
Parents' Association Reception.
All parents and students are welcome to this free event. Don't miss this opportunity to meet other parents while enjoying hors d'oeuvres and other refreshments.  North Hall Lobby (bldg. 5). 

7 PM
Soccer:
Cheer on the Lumberjacks as they host Montana, free and open to the public. Lumberjack Stadium (bldg. 34).

Parents' Association Annual Meeting
.  Free breakfast will be served! Ashurst Auditorium (bldg. 11). 

10–11:15 AM
Celebration of Academic Achievement.
Ardrey Auditorium (bldg. 37a).

10 AM–3 PM

 Students showcase various academic projects and presentations they have designed and implemented.  University Union, Havasupai Room (bldg. 30).

College Receptions.
Meet your student's deans and faculty and learn about the latest academic developments and projects. The College of Engineering and Natural Sciences will be conducting building tours, and the College of Health and Human Services will be presenting "Nursing/Health Professions Kenya Study Abroad program."

Family Weekend Barbecue.
Join Campus Dining for BBQ pork sandwiches, grilled chicken breast sandwiches, and an array of salads and desserts. Tickets required and available at the door. Parking lot 66 by the Skydome (bldg. 73).

12:30–2:30 PM

Family Weekend Football Game:
Lumberjacks vs. Idaho State.  Walkup Skydome. Tickets required and available at the door (bldg. 73).  

5:30 PM

6–9 PM
Casino Nite Dinner.
Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) students roll out a hot plated dinner with flair, showing their enthusiasm in spades. All food production and casino games operated by HRM students. Tickets are required and available at the door. Visit the gourmet dinner menu online and plan to attend right after the football game. For information, call 928-523-2845. du Bois Center Ballroom (bldg. 64).

6 PM–MIDNIGHT
Family Weekend Casino Nite and Silent/Live Auction.
Play some chips for scholarships, with all proceeds from the event benefiting Hotel and Restaurant Management students. Try your luck at more than seventy blackjack, craps, roulette, poker and Texas Hold-em tables, as well as bingo games and more. Bid on hundreds of great prizes at the silent/live auction. Tickets are required and and available at the door. Plan to attend right after the football game. du Bois Center Ballroom (bldg. 64).

7–9 PM
Go stargazing at the Astronomic Research Observatory.
Northern Arizona University astronomers and staff will be on hand to explain the night sky and allow families to view the stars through not only the observatory’s 24-inch telescope, but also through several 10-inch telescopes. Refreshments will be served. The facility is located on the university campus, right off San Francisco street (bldg. 47).

 

Sunday, October 14, 2007
10 AM–NOON
Family Weekend Brunch/Parents' Association Raffle
, du Bois Center Ballroom. Students, families, and friends are invited to join university administrators, faculty, and staff for brunch. The Parents' Association will have a raffle for scholarships and other prizes throughout the brunch. Tickets required and available at the door (bldg. 64).

10 AM–2 PM

"Fall Festival of Choirs
" presented by the NAU School of Music. Four outstanding ensembles from choral studies, including the Harold M. Harter Memorial Handbell Choir (Robert McGrath, bellmaster); NAU Men's Chorale (John Pollmann, conductor); NAU Women's Chorale; and University Singers (Erica Kragness, conductor). Adults $10, NAU students and children free with ID. Tickets are available at the door. Ardrey Auditorium (bldg. 37a).
