New Students

Beginning with the fall 2008 semester, all new degree-seeking undergraduate students (freshmen and transfer) will pay special fixed tuition rates, known as our "Pledge" Tuition Rate, for four academic years. The "Pledge" Tuition Rate for fall 2008 resident students is $5,145 per year; for non-resident students the rate is $16,243, and for students in the Western Undergraduate Exchange program, the rate is $7,718. These "Pledge" Tuition Rates will not increase during the four-year period (eight consecutive semesters, fall and spring). Students may take as many or as few classes as they wish. Students and families are shielded from sudden spikes in tuition and The "Pledge" Tuition Rate Term provides an incentive to complete a bachelor’s degree in four years. Students enrolled spring 2008 and continuing to fall 2008 will pay the Continuing Tuition Rate. Class Fees (academic course fees) and other Mandatory Fees are not included in and are in addition to The Pledge Tuition Rate.

As part of Our Pledge, Northern Arizona University offers freshman students who live in Freshman Connections halls on campus a guarantee that their housing rate will not increase for two academic years. In addition, students who purchase a meal plan will see no increase in their meal plan rates for two years. The meal plan rate is based on the cost for 14 meals per week.

The "Pledge" compliments the university’s guaranteed graduation program, Finish in Four nau.edu/gateway/finishinfour.htm.

Current Students

Beginning with the fall 2008 semester, all current degree-seeking undergraduate students (freshmen and transfer) can opt in for the fixed tuition rates, known as our "Pledge" Tuition Rate, for eight semesters.

The "Pledge" Tuition Rate for fall 2008 resident students is $5,145 per year; for non-resident students the rate is $16,243, and for students in the Western Undergraduate Exchange program, the rate is $7,718. These "Pledge" Tuition Rates will not increase during the eight semesters (fall and spring).

Current students and families are shielded from sudden spikes in tuition and The "Pledge" Tuition Rate Term assist students and their family in plan for the cost of the students tuition. Class Fees (academic course fees) and other Mandatory Fees are not included in and are in addition to The Pledge Tuition Rate.

The "Pledge" demonstrates Northern Arizona University’s commitment to holding the line on tuition costs, making college costs more predictable for families, taking the guesswork out of college planning and providing a tangible benefit for students.
