Margarita “Maggie” Carbajal comes to us from Yuma, Arizona where she was born and raised and where she lived with her parents and younger brother and sister until she began attending NAU in January of 1999. Maggie graduated from Cibola High School in 1998 and received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2001 from NAU.  Maggie then went on to receive a Masters of Education in Counseling from NAU in 2003.

While pursuing her Master’s, Maggie was the Graduate Assistant for the Multicultural Student Center for two years where she worked with the STAR Program and the BF Scholars. Maggie has also worked in social services in Coconino County where she worked with homeless youth and preventing child abuse. More recently she worked as an Academic Advisor at the College of Business Administration and the Gateway Student Success Center here at NAU.

Maggie is fluent in both English and Spanish and loves to travel, read and spend time with her husband Tim and daughter Alondra.
