Adiam Tesfay is originally from Eritrea, East Africa and moved to Phoenix at a young age with her parents. She lived there with her parents and her four siblings until she graduated high school.
She graduated from Central High School in 2001 with hopes of becoming a doctor. Then she received her Bachelor’s of Arts in Liberal Studies with the emphasis of Speech Pathology and Audiology and a focus in Languages here at NAU in 2005 and was an SSS student for three years. Adiam is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Higher Education Counseling with an emphasis in Student Affairs. She will be the first member of her family with a Master’s degree.
Adiam was a Resident Assistant (RA) for three years in Reilly Hall as an undergraduate and just completed a year as a Graduate Hall Director for the Allen-Wilson Complex. She recently worked as the Hall Director for the STAR program with the Multi-Cultural Student Center.
She loves children, traveling, talking to friends, learning about different cultures and people, and family. She knows five languages and hopes to learn more. Adiam is interested in working with students who will have a harder time transitioning to college than most.
Adiam plans on going back to Eritrea soon (hopefully after graduation Spring 07) to spend some time there visiting family and relaxing.
