Academy Instructors:
Certified high school teachers in English, math, social studies and science team teach an integrated curriculum. The goal of the Upward Bound/Nizhoni Academy is to increase students’ interest and skills in science, mathematics, social science, and humanities while introducing students to all aspects of college life, emphasizing social, cultural, personal, and leadership skills. Year 1 students study and design energy efficient homes and communities. Year 2 students examine sustainable practices in Flagstaff such as recycling, waste water reclamation, wind energy, and hazardous waste disposal; as well as participate in a hands-on Green Building project. Year 3 students enroll in a course at Coconino Community College and are supported by supplemental lab instructors.

Summer Academy Supplemental Lab Instructors
We are looking for currently enrolled College students with an interest in living in Flagstaff for the summer and helping high school students succesfully complete a community college course. Supplemental Lab Instructors--SLI's--attend a summer session course from June 2-July 3, with 5-10 students and hold a 2 hour tutorial lab with those students 4 days a week. The total time commitment is approximately 20 hours a week. Pay is $15.50/hr.

Cultural Preservation Instructor: Summer Position
The Cultural Preservation class is intended for young native students to help in heritage preservation by teaching or inspiring them to preserve what is left, such as traditional ceremonies, songs, language, foods, spirituality, and sacred sites.
