Supplemental Instruction specialist
Educational Support Programs
Craig supervises two SI programs at NAU.
Each semester he recruits, hires, trains, and supervises 30 to 40 SI leaders who provide academic support to students in “historically difficult” courses in Accounting, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Nutrition, Physics and Social Sciences. He also coordinates the compilation and reporting of data that indicates the influence of SI attendance on retention.
Craig received his BA in English (Comparative Literature) from NAU in 1975. He completed his MA in Education (with Secondary Education Certification) in 1988 and his EdD in Educational Leadership in 1995. His doctoral work focused on the theory and methodology of qualitative research and program evaluation. Craig began working in the LAC in 1986 and supervised the computer lab for 10 years.
In 1997 he took the position of Study Skills Specialist, which he held until the Fall of 2005 when NAU implemented the new campus-wide Supplemental Instruction program.
