Affirmative Action Plan

Northern Arizona University is a federal contractor and is, therefore, required to establish and maintain an affirmative action plan regarding employment pursuant to Executive Order 11246, as amended. The Northern Arizona Affirmative Action Plan is available for review at the Office of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity, Northern Arizona University, Old Main (Bldg. 10), Room 113, Flagstaff, AZ 86011, Phone (928) 523-3312, FAX (928) 523-9977, TDD (928) 523-1006. Please direct questions regarding the Affirmative Action plan to Priscilla Mills, Director, (928) 523-7855, Priscilla.Mills@nau.edu.

The Affirmative Action Plan contains a great deal of information regarding the employment and retention of women and minorities at Northern Arizona University. The following summary information from the Affirmative Action Plan is especially helpful for search committees and others responsible for implementing the Affirmative Action Plan and those interested in increasing diversity on campus.

How to Find the Affirmative Action Goal for a Particular Job and Job Group:
  1. Go to the Job Group Table to determine the Job Group for a particular job.
  2. Locate the Job Group on the Placement Goal Report Adobe Acrobat Icon (PDF).
    • This will tell you the current percentage goal established for women and minorities in that Job Group. A goal is established when the percentage of women and/or minorities currently employed in the job group (incumbency) is less than the percentage of women and/or minorities which census and other data reports indicate may be available for employment within the reasonable recruitment area for jobs within the Job Group (availability).
    • If a goal exists for the Job Group, pay special attention to engaging in targeted recruitment calculated to increase the number of women and/or minorities in the applicant pools for all searches for positions within that Job Group. Consult the Affirmative Action Plan for other information regarding the effect of an established goal.
    • Figures are stated in percentages.
    • A blank indicates that the goal has been met.
