

The Office of Affirmative Action is responsible for working with all members of the Northern Arizona University community to:

that the University is meeting the letter and spirit of its legal obligations in the areas of affirmative action, equal opportunity and nondiscrimination, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and to:
Support
NAU's commitment to diversity. Within those areas of responsibility, the overall goals of the Office of Affirmative Action are to:
Provide consultation, guidance and support to all levels of the NAU community regarding affirmative action, equal opportunity/nondiscrimination, and ADA responsibilities;
Develop and update NAU's Affirmative Action Plan consistent with applicable laws and regulations;
Coordinate NAU's compliance with the employment and accessibility provisions of the ADA;
Provide guidance to University hiring committees regarding affirmative action obligations and monitor faculty and administrative position searches;
Resolve discrimination concerns, allegations and complaints emphasizing expeditious handling of all concerns, both formal and informal;
Provide training and education to the NAU community to enhance appreciation of the benefits of diversity and improve campus understanding of the laws regarding discrimination and affirmative action.
