The Office of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity (AA/EO) works with all members of the Northern Arizona University community to ensure that the University is meeting the letter and spirit of its legal obligations in the areas of:

  • Access for individuals with disabilities
  • ADA accommodations for employees

AA/EO provides the following services to the University community:

  • Preparation and dissemination of the University Affirmative Action Plan for Women and Minorities and for Individuals with Disabilities and Veterans;
  • Investigation and resolution of discrimination concerns, allegations and complaints, both formal and informal, regarding matters covered by the Safe Working and Learning Environment Policy and related University policies, emphasizing expeditious handling of all concerns;
  • Coordination of NAU's compliance with the employment and accessibility provisions of the ADA and related laws;
  • Serving as the designated University ADA/504 Compliance Office with the director as the designated compliance officer;
  • Monitoring of faculty and administrative position searches;
  • Consultation, guidance and training in the above areas;
  • Coordination with other University entities to promote a University climate in which diversity and inclusion are valued and celebrated.
