Greg Ohrn
Assistant Porfessor of Construction Management
I originally came to NAU in 1978 as a student majoring in Civil Engineering Technology. After my graduation in 1981, I went to work for Peabody Coal and later the Office of Relocation on the Navajo Nation before returning to ASU to earn a Master’s Degree in Construction in 1997. Since then I have had the opportunity to return to NAU and help teach the next generation of professional construction managers.
NAU and Northern Arizona is a great place to live, work, and go to school with almost any number of outside activities that you can participate in year round. We are just minutes away from the highest mountains in Arizona, the San Francisco Peaks and only an hour and a half away from one of the world’s best known natural wonders, the Grand Canyon. If the natural attributes of the area were not enough, we also found ourselves only a few hours away from the metropolitan areas of Phoenix, Arizona, and Las Vegas Nevada.
During my career thus far I have had the good fortune to work for or with the following organizations:
U.S. Office of Navajo and Hopi Indian Relocation
When I am not working I like to travel, see the sights, and meet people from other parts of the country/world. I have traveled extensively throughout the western U. S. and into Canada and Mexico. Some day I hope to have the opportunity to travel to Asia and Europe. In the meantime, I enjoy working with the students in our program and contributing to the development of a more professional construction industry.
