THE BIG EVENT VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

The Big Event will be held this spring on April 1, 2006. The Big Event is NAU's largest day of service - it is NAU student's opportunity to give back to the Flagstaff community and a great big way to say THANKS for supporting us.  Possible projects might include painting, debris removal, cleaning, raking, planting, pruning, building a shed, sorting, organizing for a yard sale, washing cars, putting together a food donation drive, general yard work, animal care, preparing food, helping move, cleaning lots or playgrounds, doing paperwork, and much more. Tools will be provided at the worksite as well as breakfast, lunch, transportation to and from the work site, and a free t-shirt. This will be the biggest and best organized Big Event yet.  We encourage all individuals, organizations, groups, clubs, and classes to participate.  The school which started The Big Event, Texas A&M, will have over 9,000 participants this spring.  I believe that NAU is just as service oriented and would like to see a larger turnout from our student body.

You can register for the big event by e-mailing ASNAU.Leadership@nau.eduwith your name, organization name (if applicable), e-mail address, and number of people participating. Please register no later than March 28, but the sooner the better. On March 30, 2006 we will be holding an organizational meeting that a representative from each club must attend. At the meeting we will be handing out packets with information on what time of work you will be doing and for whom you will be volunteering.

On April 1, the Big Event will run from 9:30-2:30. Registration and breakfast will begin at 9:30 on the Natatorium Fields, then volunteers will arrive at their worksites at 10am to begin work. At noon, lunch will be dropped off at the work site. At 2pm, vans will return to pick up all volunteers and return them to campus.
