Cheryl Cothran, Ph.D. is Director of the Arizona Hospitality Research and Resource Center and Administrative Director of the School of Hotel & Restaurant Management. With a doctorate in Labor History from the University of California at Davis, Cothran is especially interested in training and workforce development issues. She has authored innovative federal grants to create model workforce development programs for Native American tribes (U.S. Department of Labor), and re-entry programs for female inmates (U.S. Dept. of Education). Recently, she partnered with Coconino County Health Department to provide innovative online Food Handler training. She is a consultant to the Arizona Office of tourism and serves on the Board of the Arizona Tourism Alliance. She has published numerous articles on tourism in Annals of Tourism Research, Cornell Quarterly, and the International Journal of Hospitality Management.
