Biography
I am very outgoing and I love doing all sorts of outdoor activities including camping, mountain biking, and hiking. Here on campus I am involved in the LLC ( the living and learning community) for the outdoors program. I am also involved in the intramurals sports program and recently played in the Northern Arizona Intramurals Dodge ball tournament with students from McConnell hall. Other hobbies I enjoy are snowboarding and surfing the waves in Encinitas. I am also a huge Disney fan and I worked at Legoland last summer. Iam also a student intern in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. It has been a great learning experience for me because I'm learning more about the university and get a chance to talk to prospective students.

I also feel that this Internship will provide great resources for me later on when I need help on where to go after college.
Why did you choose to attend Northern Arizona University?
This is probably the question that many students ask me when they hear I am from California. And I answer that there are a million reasons why I chose to attend Northern Arizona University. One of my main reasons was seasons. I have never experienced a fall or winter and here in Northern Arizona I have been able to experience them all. I am a huge fan of snowboarding as well and when I heard that I can earn college credits for snowboarding, my jaw fell to the floor. I also like how Northern Arizona has a strong emphasis on outdoor activities. This area is great and I have been able to try new things here such as hiking six miles to the top of Mt. Elden or backpacking through the Grand Canyon that I would never be able to experience in California. Another reason why I came here was because of my major. I really want to be an elementary school teacher and many of the schools in California don't have a focus on elementary education. I would have had to major in liberal arts then transfer somewhere else in order to get my degree. Here I can earn my degree in Elementary Education and be eligible to each in 36 states.
What do you like best about Northern Arizona University?
I am a huge outdoor fan. The fact that we have the San Francisco Peaks in our backyard is just amazing. I love the atmosphere here around campus and I feel that everyone here loves school, but loves the city of Flagstaff as well. Coming from Encinitas I didn't know anyone and now I feel like I wouldn't be happier anywhere else. I feel that each day is unpredictable and that there are always new things to discover everyday.
What do you do for fun on the weekends?
I feel that weekends here follow the quote that, “time flies when you’re having fun”. I always seem to be doing something. Being involved in the outdoor program here, I am always doing something with them on the weekends. I have also attended the $2 movie screenings on campus at the Prochnow theater. My friends and I sometimes walk downtown which always has something going on like a concert or show and then also eat at the local restaurants. The cool thing about Flagstaff is that most of downtown is locally owned and still has that old town feeling which I love.
Describe what it is like living on campus.
I really recommend for all freshman to live on campus. I currently live McConnell Hall and I am enjoying it. The freshman connection halls really helped me involved in activities and meet new people. Not knowing anyone here, my hall made sure there were plenty of activities for me to join to meet people. I also like living on campus because everything is right at my fingertips.
