Biography
For the past two years, I have served as a Resident Assistant for Mountain View Hall. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. I am also an active member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority here on campus. The past two years I have held the positions of recording secretary and a Pan-Hellenic delegate. This fall I will be a class coordinator/class scholarship. These are new positions for our chapter so I am excited about the opportunity. I also served on the Student Activities Council this past year. I will be the office manager of McConnell Hall next year.
Why did you choose to attend Northern Arizona University?
I chose to attend NAU because I wanted to go into education and NAU has the best program out of the three state schools.
What do you like best about Northern Arizona University?
I really enjoy the people I have gotten to meet here. I love walking to class and seeing at least 2 or 3 people I know. It brightens up my day. I really enjoy the atmosphere created since it is a smaller school.
What advice would you give a prospective student?
My advice would be to get involved. My first semester here I really didn't do much and I struggled socially. However, once I put myself out there and met people and got involved, my college experience has been completely different. Also I would recommend trying something new. College is a time for you to learn more about yourself and a great way to do this is trying new things.
What do you do for fun on the weekends?
Lately, my friends and I have been going bowling. It is getting quite competitive since we are all actually getting pretty good now. I also enjoy going to movies and various campus activities. Finally, sometimes I like just hanging out in my hall with my floor and watching movies and talking.
Describe the best professor you've had here and explain why.
The best professor I had was Terence Blows for MAT 365 (Modern Geometry). The material wasn't too difficult, but Dr. Blows did explain it very thoroughly. However, I consider him the best professor I had because he actually took the time to get to know me. My best friend and I had his class together and he would always joke around with us. He was more than willing to help us with any questions and he emphasized knowing the process rather than just the right answer, which I think is huge when it comes to math. Finally, I still talk to Dr. Blows when I see him and he asks me how things are going. I really appreciate a teacher who cares.
